01 Nov Neil Reidman Nominated for Best Male Lead Actor at the Black British Theatre Awards
Neil Reidman has been nominated for Best Male Lead Actor in a Play at the Black British Theatre Awards 2024 for his acclaimed performance in Without at The Omnibus Theatre Courtyard Theatre.
The Black British Theatre Awards (BBTAs) are the UK’s only awards dedicated to celebrating the excellence and influence of Black performers and creatives across British theatre. Now in their sixth year, the awards honour outstanding work from productions that ran between 1 August 2023 and 31 July 2024, with winners announced at a special ceremony at London’s Lyceum Theatre — home to The Lion King — on Monday 4 November 2024.
Neil’s nomination places him alongside fellow nominees Christopher Mbaki (Before I Go, Brixton House) and Terique Jarrett (Choir Boy, Bristol Old Vic), in a category that recognises exceptional dramatic performances on stage.
Speaking about the nomination, Neil said:
“It’s an incredible honour to be recognised alongside so many talented artists. Without is a story that means a great deal to me — it’s both personal and universal, about family, identity, and resilience. I’m proud to see it resonating with audiences and the wider theatre community.”
The awards also celebrate leading names in British theatre, with this year’s recipients including Danny Sapani (King Lear, Almeida Theatre) receiving the Founders Choice Award and Namron OBE being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
